poorly

.........finn and i have been padding around the house feeling sorry for ourselves.  Me, because i have had a yukky tummy bug and finn, because i have not been able to take him out.  look at that little face!..............

........................i finished off a blanket though by sewing in all, i mean ALL the ends and i put the cupcake cross stitch aside to begin this winterwoods sampler designed by alicia paulson of posie gets cosy fame.  i don't normally stitch on dark coloured linen so i have found the best light to do so.  not easy when the week has been rather grey..............................

........................we said we would not buy anything for valentines this year but i found this little gift waiting on my desk.................a chocolate heart and anna karenina, which i really am looking forward to watching............

weekend

.............there is nothing nicer than coming home to warming chicken soup after being at work all day..........

.........on saturday we ventured out but the weather just got colder and colder.  we had breakfast at one of our favourite places and then picked up some daffodils after doing some errands.  the daffodils add a little sunshine don't you think?

......................the quilt came out again at the weekend and i finished the top.  i now have to buy some wadding and i have seen some red spotty fabric which would be nice for the underside.  i also finished a crochet blanket i was making but will show it to you another time.

...............pot roast was on the menu for sunday which is another warming comfort meal and so easy  you can get on with other things like crocheting..........

..................the snow started to fall sunday afternoon and we woke to a snow covered garden this morning.   there are little bulbs still pushing through the snow - they are so brave...........

tempting

......i've been sitting at the sewing machine attempting to make a small quilt - i've seen so many lovely ones in blogland that i thought i would give it a go.  i have made quilts before but quite some time ago before jelly rolls and so on.   i am also not sure i even like the fabric now.  my back is aching and i am losing patience with it and the damn cotton has just ran out. 

what i really want to do is crawl back here.........i have been wanting to since i got up from here this morning........

chocolate covered cherries

......been busy cross stitching and finally finished chocolate covered cherries which i will take to the framers and then it will hang in our dining room.  as you can see i have been stitching on fine linen which has a pink and white check.........

............i have already stitched a cupcake and a layer cake and they will all hang together.........

.......i thought it would be interesting to have a wall of food inspired cross stitch pieces in this room - i have a large cupcake piece which needs stitching next..........

dreaming of spring

..........after all the snowy pictures there have been in blogland and indeed, in my own backyard, I thought it would be nice to see some spring images.  I know that's what I'm dreaming of ....................

a new year

finally

 ............i had been intending for a while to make some curtains for the cupboards shown her.......

.......the armoire is in our bedroom and has chicken wire inserted into the door frames, which is lovely if you wish to show off your lovely china but not very nice if not.  i made these curtains from cath kidston fabric.......

........the cupboard above holds all my cosmetics, creams, hairbrushes etc which need to be hidden as it can look very messy behind the glass door..............

........the lovely r altered this cupboard in our bathroom to take a seperate tap and basin.  i then, added the pretty curtaining, once again from cath kidston............ 

.......like so many of us i had intended in making these curtains for a while and then they are made quite quickly once you are focused on the job and wow they make a difference..........
